BEIJING (Reuters) - Residents of Beijing are worried that the careless disposal of dead pets is hurting their campaign for a "green" Olympic Games (news - web sites) to be held in the capital in 2008, Xinhua news agency said on Thursday.

Of the more than 200 pets that die each day in Beijing, only one is cremated. The rest are either buried or dumped in trash cans, Xinhua said.

Pets were shunned in the days of Mao Zedong as a symbol of bourgeois decadence, but pet pooches have become increasingly popular in the last decade as living standards have risen dizzily.

"Quite a number of pet owners bury their pets either in the lawns of residential quarters or in public places, and quite a number of dead pets end up in the trash cans of residential communities," Liao Yumin, manager of the Beijing Boai Animal Crematorium, was quoted as saying.

"The careless burial of dead animals could result in hazardous pollution as rainwater or flooding runs over the bodies," he said.

The issue came to the attention of authorities last year when civet cats, considered a delicacy in the south, were found to be linked with an outbreak of SARS (news - web sites), he added.

In an online survey by the Beijing municipal government, "citizens have shown concern that the careless disposal of dead pets in the city might do harm to the capital Beijing as it has been exerting itself to host a Green Olympics in 2008, one of the goals of which is to improve waste treatment in Beijing," Xinhua said.

At the end of June, Beijing had 417,731 registered dogs, an increase of more than 7,000 over 2003, show statistics from the city public security bureau.

The actual number of pets in the city was estimated at more than a million, Xinhua said.

you know what i hate about math? 

I don't get math.  While staring at the problems and reading the concepts, they don't seem too bad, but once you throw in practice problems, all hell breaks loose. @__@

but once the professor explains the homework problems, and how to get to the answers, it's like "oOoOOOoO.. i SEE it! "

but once you're told to solve one yourself, it's back to square one again.

aye, i can't wait til tomorrow is over.

Being that this was finals week, I got to stay home until 10AM, 2 hours more than I usually get to on a monday.

after work from downtown, my dad took a detour to chinatown and brought some stuff home...

mMmM... dim sum...

well, it's ONLY the third time in THREE days that i've had dim sum for some sort of meal.

yes, ill say it up front.  Me thinks I bombed my accounting final.  How bad?  I'll let the pic do the talking..

I FINISHED THIS WHOLE ROLL OF CERTS MINTS WITHIN 30 MINUTES, SO MY BREATH'S SO FRESH SO CLEAN, BUT THE ANSWERS ON MY SCANTRON STILL LOOK AND SMELL LIKE S-H-I-T

 

But i guess as a whole class, we all did pretty poorly.

It was just 26 multiple choice questions.

26 HARD multiple choice questions.  I think within the first half an hour a few people left already, and by the end of class only about 20% of the clas was still there, destined to finish the test by trying as hard as they could.

I swear to GOD that when professor tom called time, I saw two girls on the verge of crying/breaking down.

ouch.

yes, that was how i responded too.

 

And if you thought that wasn't bad enough, I joined blockbuster's netflix wannabe about a month ago after my friend [i wont mention any NAMES @_@ ] FORCED me to do it so he could try to get his freeflatpanel. 

But it was me that liked it so much that I decided to keep both services.

...WHY?!?

I'll tell you why.

- Blockbuster is like a $1 cheaper per month.
- Blockbuster gives you 2 FREE in-store rentals per month

- NETFLIX has foreign films, so I get stuff my thy parentals to watch too.
- NETFLIX has more copies of each thing.  Everything in my netflix queue says "available now", while about 70% of my blockbuster queue says "short wait" @_@

that aint coool...

..so that's why i kept both.

 

YES, that is a lot of DVDs right there.  But to my own defense, not all are mines.  Probably about 30% of that list is crap that i helped my uncle, my dad, and a few friends get.  So not all of it is mines..

Like many other xangans out there, we all have hit counters to see how many hits we get and all that other goodness.  While checking one of mines today, i was completely SHOCKED at what I saw..

I got kinda curious.
So, I typed in "xxx photos sexy girl raped site" in MSN, and to my astonishment, look at what i found:

My site got listed FIRST.

i don't recall typing anything of that sort in my entries, either creatively or through a yahoo oddly enough. @_@

i feel so dirty knowing some porn addict found my site through a porn search.  @_@

I probably de-bonerized him. 

haha.. >_<

sidenote: dayum, since i typed out that phrase again, im pretty sure i might get linked again because of it.  ah crap. >_<

 

WARNING:

CHRISTMAS PARTIES CAN DAMAGE YOUR HEALTH

That is the message from Britain's Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), which joined trade unions on Friday to issue guidelines on how to host a safe and successful office party.

"Resist the temptation to photocopy parts of your anatomy," RoSPA and the Trades Union Congress (TUC) said. "If the copier breaks, you'll have Christmas with glass in painful places."

"Dancing on desks could do them and you a lot of damage," they said. "Likewise, the boardroom table is meant for weighty documents, not overweight executives."

Candles, flaming Christmas puddings and cigarettes should be avoided at all costs.

Stepladders, not swivel chairs, should be used to hang tinsel and mistletoe, which should not be hung near sources of heat.

"Keep a close eye on those who may drink too much," the organizations advised. "Alcohol makes some people aggressive rather than friendly. The party will be spoiled if it ends in a punch-up or harassment complaint."

RoSPA and the TUC were condemned by some as killjoys but said they were only trying to help.

"We are not being party poopers," RoSPA Occupational Safety Adviser Roger Bibbings said.

"Some sensible safety precautions will allow people to have a great office celebration without having to call in the emergency services."

I just finished reading a novel for my geography class, and I have no idea what the hell i just read. @_@

2.5 page essay, need to produce by midnight so i can sleep and wake at 4:30 to study for my geography final.

Man, i used to think juno was the shit!.

now, it's just shit.

talk about crap, being a "free" user, I can only access my e-mail online now, with it's UNGODLY 2MB mailbox.

I guess i was kind of naive, thinking that I wouldnt be affected.  I had set my juno program to be as if i was on a network (so i don't "call in" to get my mail, meaning i wouldnt be taking up their resources)
They said that the free ones would not work after December 1st.

and yes, still on the 4th.
as on the 5th.

Now, six days later than planned, it finally decides to nipp it in the butt.. @_@

3. Read over the assignment carefully, to make certain you understand it.

4. Walk down to the vending machines and buy some chocolate to help you concentrate.

5. Check your email.

6. Call up a friend and ask if he/she wants to go to the caf and grab a hot chocolate. Just to get settled down and ready to work.

7. When you get back to your room, sit in a straight, comfortable chair in a clean, well lit place.
         7a. If your room is not clean, take out the garbage and vacuum first.

So, how many of you listen to the radio regularly?  Do you have a radio station that's playing holiday [more like 100% christmas] music 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?

Well, i don't know about ya'll, but over hear in the San Francisco Bay Area, there's been one radio station that's doing that.

KOIT 96.5 FM.

They've been doing all christmas music now for quite some time.  I reckon they started a few days before Thanksgiving. @_@.
Personally, I thought it was getting kind of annoying.  They probably have like 40 songs in queue, and they're just replaying those in different orders.. @_@

So I thought I'd share the wealth.  I looked back to last year and I realized that I put up christmas music up later.  But I thought.. "It's NEVER too early to start the festivities", so here they are.

Yes, I realize these aren't the holiday classics.... but I do have some that are just shameless remakes.

So it's ALL GOOD.

Well, I also told myself that Once I find ATI's HDTV Wonder for $150 after INSTANT [no mail in] rebate I WILL go get it.

And then i saw it, in all it's beauty.

I'm not one to break promises, so I was like "Alright, I'll go buy you."

I had nobody online to ask what they thought or to restrain me, so off i went.

Took the 25 minute bus ride downtown and picked this sucker up.  On the way back I got a lot of weird stares on the bus.  Dayum Compusa for not having big enough bags! @_@
